被Rough Trade簽下即將發行單曲My Baby Left Me的倫敦靈魂樂女歌手ROX，剛剛查了一下新單曲裡收錄了五首混音版本，分別來自DC Breaks、Arms、Terror Danjah、TMS和Wideboys等人製作，而早在一月份時曾發行一張收錄有Bristol dubstep producer Guido混音No Going Back的單曲，看情形接下來應該會有更多Dubstep或是UK Funky、UK Garage類型的producer前來與她合作。

Riding a crest of adulation and praise for his 'Air & Lack Therof' 10" and a remix of Untold's 'Stop What You're Doing', James Blake pits his electro-acoustic enhanced and jazz-informed approach with Airhead on two efficiently sparse and clever tracks. Both 'Pembroke' and 'Lock In The Lion' take cues from the early dubstep minimalism of Loefah, Kode 9 or Pinch whilst also mirroring the loping hiphop/IDM swing considerations of Slugabed or Mount Kimbie. They create a brilliant slow-fast tension from achingly well-placed drums and a deft use of silence that even reflects more avant-garde producers like Kouhei Matsunaga, while still remaining tethered to a notion of more common funk with bursts of samples and splashes of melodic arrangment. Babe Rainbow - Shaved Mixtape
If it seems like we might be spending the better part of 2010 trying to capture Babe Rainbow’s sound, this mixtape only confounds us even more. Mixed by Rico Uno, it’s made up of Babe Rainbow tracks, remixes that sound like ghosts of their original versions and a general sense of haunting doom and gloom floating around the whole thing. It’s dark and ominous and only when vocals appear is there anything to latch onto. We can’t really think of a time in real life when we would end up hanging out with Demarco in a haunted house, but when he pops up here it’s a pretty good simulation. To round out the generally horrifying vibe of the songs, Babe Rainbow have released a video for “Shaved.” It is initially beautiful, but then makes us want to never trust our friends or the forest ever again. FACT mix 120 – Lone
Nottingham’s Lone steps up this morning for a FACT mix of fractured hip-hop, pop, funk and more, glowing in sunlight and bleeding colour from every pore.
Lone first came to our attention with last year’s Lemurian album, and his work on Werk Discs last year – both the ‘Joy Reel’ 12” and the full length album that followed it are highly recommended – saw Matt Cutler get even better. With antique arcade games, vintage hip-hop and 80s grooves as its backdrop, said album for Werk, Ecstasy and Friends is a record steeped in childhood nostalgia that recalls Flying Lotus, DâM-FunK, Boards of Canada and more but could only have been made by Lone.
