雖然我在BBC/Zane Lowe的節目裡聽到他放了Breakage這首Hard寫著由Caspa操刀的混音，但後來又跑回開iTune聽聽原始版本的Hard比較一下，結果好像跟原曲一樣，所以是說這首是由Caspa製作的嗎？又或者是Zane Lowe在tracklist上寫錯，但他明明在節目裡有說這是Caspa的混音，好困惑。

For a while now, Simple has been one of the leading lights of the more melodic side of house music favoured by Dial, Kompakt when they fancy being good, et al, releasing music from the label's core artists (Saul, Sideshow) as well as the likes of Vector Lovers and Motorcitysoul.
In 2006, Saul also formed Aus Music with Sideshow/Fink, to focus on the more experimental side of dub and techno: the brilliant Lee Jones has been a regular contributor to the label, which this year has turned its attention to the more elegiac side of dubstep: commissioning releases from Martyn, Pearson Sound, and - coming next year - a new EP from man of the moment Joy Orbison.
Two Orbison tracks from said EP feature on Will's FACT mix along with unreleased material from Lee Jones and Ramadanman, and tracks from Shed, Mount Kimbie, Future Sound of London, Omar-S, Lusine, Burial and more. 毫無疑問，「King Of Nu-Skool Breaks」這個稱號是無數電子樂迷對於Adam Freeland最熟悉的頭銜，畢竟由他在1996年主理的DJ-Mix專輯「Coastal Breaks」以及與Tayo、Rennie Pilgrim共同發起的Friction這個Club Night，都被公認為Nu-Skool Breaks體系觸發的重要起源，幾年下來為Planet Funk、Fluke、Orbital、Pressure Drop、Nirvana、The White Stripes、The Dorrs、Spinerette等所炮製的Remix版本也都大獲好評，甚至當年Sasha、Carl Cox、BT等跳舞界巨星也都不諱言是在Adam的影響下大舉涉獵Nu-Breaks體系。同時他那奠基於Brighton的自家品牌Marine Parade(曾被Muzik Magazine Awards提名為「年度最佳獨立廠牌」)，更是無庸置疑的Nu-Skool Breaks重鎮。
另一方面，Adam的DJ-Mix功架亦是名聞遐邇。最早他在自家廠牌Marine Parade發表的兩張DJ-Mix專輯「Tectonics」與「On Tour」，已讓人體驗到一種以完美低音曲線為主軸的深遂Nu-Breaks美學，彷彿就是活生生的滿分DJ-Mixing典範般! 然而之後透過由他主理的「Essential Mix」到前些時候那張將Nu-Breaks、Indie-Electro、Shoegazer、Post-Punk、Minimal Techno共治一爐的「GU32﹕Mexico City」，所呈現的是一種超越Nu-Breaks範疇、全然破格而令人大為折服的DJ-Mix思維，同時還隱含著搖滾基因作祟。
而這樣的性格展現下，Adam Freeland以Freeland名義發表的首張大碟「Now And Them」，便明顯遠離典型Sample-Based Breaks模式而反映出骨子裡搖滾樂薰陶的野心。到了2009年推出的第二張專輯「Cope™」，除了有旗下大將Alex Metric共同製作外，更以野心勃勃地邀得Motley Crue鼓手Tommy Lee、Marilyn Manson貝斯手Twiggy Ramirez、Devo的Jerry Casale還有Pixies的Joey Santiago與Distillers／Spinerette陣中的Tony Bevilacqua負責吉他，帶來的是一張被形容為集Leftfield的「Leftism」、The Prodigy的「Fat Of The Land」、Daft Punk的「Discovery」與Justice的「＋」之大成的年度名盤!!!

我想在台灣的聽The Big Pink的人大概不太會去注意到其中的客席日籍女鼓手Akiko（同時也是Merok旗下兩團Comanechi和Pre的成員），Akiko在英國音樂圈打滾也有不算短的時間（跟Klaxons可算同期）了，但近期看似每天都跟The Big Pink在鬼混的Akiko在其所屬的Comanechi這支Grunge-Punk duo樂隊裡也即將在年底發行樂隊的首張專輯Crime of Love，而專輯中的先行單曲Close Enough To Kiss也很跟隨潮流的找了Ghost Hunter來柔和了她們的狂噪換上性感步伐的Dubstep混音。

Our latest FACT podcast comes from Philadelphia's king of Street Bass, Starkey.
More influenced by grime than its more popular cousin, dubstep, Starkey's made a name for himself with some of this decade's most dynamic, overblown dance music: bass-heavy club tracks that are rhythmically all over the place, constantly changing direction, with dramatic key changes and leadlines that sear higher than the stars before imploding like dying stars.
Starkey has one of the biggest sounds around - and not in a cheap, tearout dubstep sense - his tracks carry tons of physical and emotional weight; tracks like 'Miracles' and 'Crippling' some of the most beautiful tracks produced by this anything goes, post-garage music. 算起來應該是昨天了，收到了封來自Kitsuné發佈他們音樂合輯系列Kitsuné Maison 8 'Chic and Nice Issue'的發行日期在11月30號與收錄在其中的20首曲目及參與單位的Mail，因為看到了夾在副檔內的宣傳照發現第11首的Friction Between The Lovers是收錄來自日本的女性Artist AMWE於上月發行的單曲Bangin' The Drum內的第二首，不過自己並不太清楚她的來歷，但聽說AMWE曾在今年的Summer Sonic有作演出，反正後來google了一下發現HeartsRevolution的新EP Hearts Japan裡除了收錄了有80kidz與Dex Pistols的混音外，另外也還有AMWE她的參與，再來從Jet Set的網站上也看到AMWE早在今年六月時曾發行了一張Mix CD 'AMWE Radio One'，這當中所收錄的曲目則是相當不錯（詳細曲目請自行點閱），好像她的Mini專輯I Am AMWE也已在本月6號發行了，總之有興趣於日本樂壇的人倒是可以注意AMWE這位小女子。

加拿大Synth-Funkers雙人組合Chromeo的新單曲Night By Night在上月初已透過Green Label Sound做免費下載宣傳，而自己在兩星期前曾弄來了在Annie Mac's Mash Up節目裡首播交由有King of Dubstep之稱的Skream所打造出的混音版本並將它上傳到YouTube做試聽，目前的點播數已有九千多次近萬遍的高人氣反應也很不錯，大家都在期待能夠聽到整首完整的版本，Green Label Sound似乎也已聽見大家的心聲，在不久前已將此首由Skream混音的版本釋出也做免費下載了。

FACT mix 89 is the work of one of the most successful UK bands to emerge this year, The Big Pink.
Compiled by Milo Cordell, who makes up the production half of the band (vocals come courtesy of Robbie Furze) and in his time has collaborated wth Alec Empire, as well as running Merok Records, a label who've released singles by Klaxons, Telepathe, Salem, Crystal Castles and more, it features clear influences on The Big Pink's modern shoegaze sound in Spirtualized, Sonic Youth and The Jesus and Mary Chain, as well as less obvious tracks from industrial warlords Einsturzende Neubauten, thugstep figurehead Rusko and king paedo Gary Glitter. Firin' garage-rave goodies from Brackles. 'Rawkus' follows up his anthemic 'LHC' 12" with two tracks of tightly wound killers made for the dance. Basically everyone is raving about this guy, from Jackmaster to Cooly G, all in awe of his highly concentrated style of bass bounce and febrile rhythm mechanics. For us, the best thing about Brackles tracks is that they sound like they're a composite of two tracks dead-locked into the groove, probably taking inspiration from his lauded mixes (which you can find elsewhere online), where he jams garage, grime and this future sh*t together in ruffneck-syncopated harmony. Perhaps signified by the title, there's a hiphop/grime swagger to both tracks, with off-beat samples and dread droning bass chopped into restless patterns, part Dexplicit, part El-B and a whole lotta fun.
